What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for a dynamic, inspirational and highly effective practitioner who has:
- Proven experience of teaching pupils with SEN and of delivering a personalised curriculum either in special or an additionally resourced provision setting.
- Experience of teaching KS1 and KS2 pupils with SEN (ideally ASD/SLCN) in special or resourced provision in the UK including knowledge of ‘Engagement Model’ assessment framework
- Knowledge of, or skills in using specialist communication systems e.g. Makaton, PECs etc.
- Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
- A commitment and passion for inclusive education along with the ability to use multiple strategies to maximise achievement and effectively manage a variety of pupil behaviours in a positive way.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, flexibility and a strong team-work focus approach.
- QTS and (ideally) some further training linked to ASD, SEND, speech and language, Structured teaching (SPELL/TEACCH), Engagement model and
- This role is NOT suitable for ECT/ NQT teachers with no prior experience.
