Severndale Specialist Academy is a large, vibrant and forward thinking special school for over 400 children and young people aged 2 ½ to 19 with a range of learning difficulties, physical and mobility difficulties and some who require personal care.
It is the largest special school in the country and is based across 3 bright and modern sites - the main Monkmoor campus, a provision in the partner mainstream secondary school, Mary Webb School, and a vocational provision in the local FE College, Shrewsbury College.
In addition, the school engages in over 30 inclusive partnerships with local mainstream schools, nurseries and colleges, raising the profile of SEND as positive contributors in the community, whilst simultaneously helping to shape a generation of future leaders who will develop a future which is better and more inclusive.
The school is now recruiting for an outstanding individuals to teach across the Academy. The Academy has a strong ethos ‘everyone valued, everyone included, everyone learning’.
This is a highly inclusive and aspirational school, where leaders have high expectations and help pupils and staff to realise their potential. This ambition is reflected in the student’s outstanding achievements in the DofE award, food hygiene certificate and first aid, amongst other qualifications and accreditation’s, including GCSE’s and BTEC’s.
The school’s greatest strength is its dedicated and highly skilled team of 275 teachers, teaching assistants and support staff. They are dynamic and outward facing, working as one team to ensure consistency and progression in the broad, balanced and relevant curriculum while utilising expertise from the different aspects of the academy.
