SEN Teacher job summary
Teach at Waterloo! A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join a fabulous caring, supportive and nurturing community.
About the role
As a member of our team you will need to be creative and resilient and be ready to get stuck into everything. You will need to be a person who thinks creatively about how we ensure that our children make great progress academically as well as with their social, emotional and/or mental health challenges.
We are looking for people who love children and young people, who enjoy spending time with them, and who get excited to share learning with them. You will need to be someone who is able to stay calm under pressure, and maintain loving relationships with young people who may display very challenging behaviour.
We are looking for extraordinary people. We look forward to meeting you!
About you
Our ideal teacher might:
⁃ be from a primary or secondary background with a passion for the outdoors
⁃ have experience in this kind of setting or they might have worked with children in mainstream
⁃ be excited to see what can be achieved in a different kind of setting
We want to find a person who share our vision. We want to employ people who believe that young people who are unable to access education for all manner of reasons need a nurturing and loving approach, to feel valued and cared for, and to have teachers who believe in them.
We know our work isn't always easy. We want to employ those who can be calm in the face of challenging and potentially upsetting circumstances, and who will always see the best in a young person, and find something to love in them, no matter what.
Commitment to safeguarding
Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff, volunteers and trustees to share this commitment.
Our recruitment process follows the keeping children safe in education guidance.
Offers of employment may be subject to the following checks (where relevant):

About us
We believe Waterloo School is a very special place. It is one of two primary schools in Hampshire that support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs and we have spaces for up to eighty-two pupils organised into nine classes on two sites. All pupils have Education Health Care Plans . Pupils have a wide variety of diagnoses and needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language, occupational therapy, behaviour and attachment disorder.
Our vision is "To inspire a sense of belonging that develops skills for learning and life in a creative environment in which we all achieve." Our aim is to ensure that all children have a positive experience at our school. Our motto ‘Create... Belong... Achieve...’ is central in all we do. We are looking for an amazing teacher who will be able to support our vision and become a strong member of our school community.
