The Mendip School are seeking to appoint a hardworking, resilient and dedicated male teaching assistant to work with a young male with complex SEMH and communication needs within a KS3/4 ready to learn group.
The Mendip School is for children aged 4-19 with a primary diagnosis of Autism and/or Speech, Language and Communication Needs. A school where the children’s needs are at the heart of everything we do, where aspirations are high and outcomes for children are excellent. A school where staff are happy, work hard as part of a team and are supported to excel in their roles.
The post holders’ responsibilities include supporting this young person to regulate and access learning opportunities. In addition, there may be times when it will be appropriate to provide general classroom support, meeting pupils’ emotional, social and physical needs, supporting behaviour and liaising with teaching staff in the development and delivery of a differentiated curriculum.
We would encourage anyone with special school or mainstream experience to apply although full training will be given to the right candidate. We are looking for candidates who have the ability to;

This role will include working with:
- A young person with complex SEMH and communication needs within a KS3/4 ready to learn class
- You will need to demonstrate a calm and patient approach, following the guidance of - teaching staff and other professionals
- An ability to positively maintain clear boundaries whilst also having flexibility of thought to problem solve
- Off-site learning and curriculum support
- Supporting other areas of the school where appropriate
