What skills and experience we're looking for
Due to increased pupil numbers, we are seeking to appoint an energetic and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to work as part of a wider team at Nancealverne School. We currently have 93 pupils on roll and 56 members of staff.
Nancealverne School is a highly successful Academy Trust School that lies in the heart of Penzance, Cornwall. We provide a specialist- high quality, relevant and balanced education for young people aged 3-19 who have moderate tocomplex learning difficulties. This focuses on individual, personal, and academic achievement, setting high expectations for all.

The role of an SEN Teaching Assistant at Nancealverne School may change during the day, dependent upon the support needs of each pupil. The successful candidate will be required to work alongside class teachers and other support staff and to follow any recommendations/guidance from multi agency teams. This position will include extensive training annually covering Safeguarding, TeamTeach, personal care and medical certificates depending on the needs of class (feeds, epilepsy training, etc.)
In order to be successful, you will have:
- 1 years’ experience of supporting pupils with challenging behaviours, severe physical and/or learning difficulties is desirable for this position.
- Experience in a school setting is desirable.
- A warm and empathetic personality is vital, as is a desire to work professionally with others to ensure we provide the best possible support for our pupils.
- A commitment to continuing professional development is necessary; we work closely together, and roles may be interchangeable to meet children’s needs.
