What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking to appoint a dynamic and passionate Teaching Assistant with the right skill-set to work with our wonderful pupils here at Brenzett Primary School. We are a thriving church school, where the values of Respect, Community, Friendship, Gratitude and Resilience guide us in our work every day and we welcome applicants with the right attitude and temperament who might be looking for their first appointment in school, as well as experienced practitioners.
You need to understand how to motivate and encourage pupils to make progress and have the ability to differentiate and adapt learning programmes (or the capacity to learn how to do this) to suit varying needs. Depending on experience, you may work in class or run interventions to help pupils to fill their learning gaps. Depending on experience, you may be called upon to support pupils with SEND so that they can access learning at an appropriate level which meets their needs. Patience, compassion and a sense of humour are essential as well as a willingness to learn and be a reflective practitioner. You will also have excellent communication skills, be able to work flexibly in a team and be confident in providing equal opportunities for all pupils.
This is a temporary contract for 5 days a week linked to High Needs Funding. Hours of work: 17 ½ hours per week Monday to Friday 12:00pm – 3.30 pm during term time only. The hours include lunchtime supervision for half an hour each day.
Our ideal candidate would be invested in the growth of the school and would be open to the possibility of joining our After School Club as we look to extend our provision in the near future. We currently finish at 4.15pm each day and would like to extend these hours to 5.00pm. Our lovely team in Slipper Club provide a range of engaging after-school activities including arts, crafts, cookery and games. Visits to the school are strongly encouraged and can be arranged by contacting the school office on 01797 344335. Applications should be submitted via Kent Teach.

Brenzett is a Church of England (Voluntary Controlled) Primary School, for children aged 4 to 11. We are a co-educational day school which serves the Romney Marsh area south of Ashford.
As of 01 October 2016 we became an Academy under the Diocese of Canterbury's Academy Trust (Aquila). Our acts or worship reflect Anglican beliefs, practices and values and we strive to maintain a distinctive Christian ethos and feel to our school.
The teaching staff currently comprises 4 teachers in addition to the Headteacher. There is also an experienced team of teaching assistants working alongside the teachers, including Higher Level Teaching Assistants. Our maximum number of children on roll is 140.
There are currently four classes. Children remain in the school until they are 11. After this, the majority transfer to one of the local Secondary schools for their secondary education. The school actively works with parents to ensure the smoothest possible transition to secondary education. Parents are offered information sessions to assist in their choice of secondary education.
