What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant who:

  • has initiative, is practical, positive, warm, and compassionate and is able to support children academically, socially and emotionally.
  • has experience of working with children of all ages
  • has experience of working with a range of special educational needs including children who are non verbal
  • has experience of carrying out targeted interventions, working from EHCPs and with external professionals
  • has a positive attitude and who is flexible and able to adapt to different situations
  • is hard working, energetic, enthusiastic and who will support our Christian ethos
  • has the ability to support children’s academic, social and emotional development in all Key Stages (EYFS to Year 6)
  • is able to develop positive relationships with pupils, having an understanding of the their social and emotional needs
  • is able to remain calm when met with a variety of challenges

St Gabriel's is an inclusive mainstream school. We have a number of children with EHCP's requiring 1:1 support. We are seeking to employ a candidate with experience of working in the primary phase, with children with a range of special educational needs.

The successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced disclosure via the DBS and will be required to have an overseas police check in place if they have spent time abroad, prior to appointment. All other safeguarding searches (including online) as stipulated in KCSiE will be undertaken prior to appointment.
