What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding SENCO to join our team and lead the department. The successful candidate will lead, manage and enhance the provision for all students, including those students with special and additional educational needs throughout the School (KS3-4), enabling all students to achieve their social and academic potential. Support those with an EHCP make academic progress at least equal to their peers and on a national level.

Our SEN team are committed to developing our young people to achieve the best they possibly can; overcoming challenges, developing new skills and becoming confident citizens. This is a great opportunity to lead and shape the team and make a real difference to young people’s lives.

The successful candidate will:

  • Inspire staff and students to further improve the quality of teaching and learning
  • Hold the SENCO qualification or be working towards it and possess QTS
  • Possess an excellent working knowledge of SEN legislation and the role of the SENCO
  • Have a proven record of success as a practitioner
  • Demonstrate the ability to forge links with partnerships, multi-agencies, parents and carers
  • Demonstrate optimism about young people and their ability to achieve
  • Be committed to providing the best opportunities and an inclusive environment for all groups of pupils
  • Be able to accept challenges, inspire and motivate others
  • Be caring and committed to making a difference to the lives of pupils, families and the community
