SENCO job summary

Start date: Easter 2021, though we are happy to negotiate an earlier start

The University of Kent Academies Trust (UKAT) are seeking an enthusiastic, forward thinking individual for the role of SENCO to join our dedicated team. This role will initially be based at Brompton Academy, however there may be a requirement to work across the Trust at both Brompton Academy and Chatham Grammar. You will be an experienced SEN practitioner who will lead, manage and oversee the day-to-day operation of the Trust’s SEND policy. You will have proven and demonstrable SEN experience and will hold the National Award in Special Educational Needs Coordinator (or be willing to gain).

We are looking for vibrant and energetic individuals who want to make a difference to the lives of our students and want to be a part of our team. You will need to be confident, resilient, approachable and a good communicator as you will be required to liaise with students, staff, parents/carers and external agencies.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and forward-thinking individual to make a strong contribution to the leadership and management of the SEN provision within the Trust.

The successful applicant will be joining a multi-academy trust with a supportive learning environment, characterised by open management, and in the knowledge that they will enjoy the full support and care of the pragmatic and forward-thinking leadership team. We have a dynamic, innovative team of professional staff who want to make a difference to the lives, aspirations and opportunities of our young people. We would encourage applicants to visit the UKAT website to view the many employee benefits on offer https://www.universityofkentacademiestrust.org.uk/careers-with-ukat

Commitment to safeguarding

The University of Kent Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

In addition, the Trust will carry out an online search, once, as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates. This is intended to help us identify any incidents or issues that have happened and are publicly available online.
