What skills and experience we're looking for

Steel City Schools Partnership seeks a SENCO who will:

  • Ensure that Bankwood meets all the legislative requirements of the SEND code of practice
  • Ensure that Bankwood meets all legislative requirements for the Pupil Premium strategy.
  • Liaise widely with other settings, supporting transition for SEND pupils at all stages of their primary education
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to improve outcomes and provision for all pupils with SEND and pupils identified as vulnerable
  • Lead on the pupil premium strategy, including linking with the Governing Body, to close the gap between Pupil Premium and Non Pupil Premium Children.
  • Provide CPD to all staff around pupil premium strategy and provision for SEND with specific focus on managing and monitoring interventions in school for SEND and vulnerable pupils
  • Develop and sustain community links and relationships with parents in particular to support the needs of vulnerable learners and their success in school.
  • Work with other settings in Steel City Schools Partnership and more widely in the city in order to ensure best practice at Bankwood but support best practice for all Sheffield SEND/Vulnerable Children
  • Have significant liaison with other leaders in the school and across the Trust to ensure a coherent approach to the day to day and longer term strategy for SEND/Vulnerable learners.
  • Have excellent relationships with a range of professionals working within the field of SEND and Pupil Premium, including SCSP Inclusion Director, locality and city SENCO networks so that barriers to learning and outcomes are removed.
