SENCO job summary

Harris Academy Tottenham is currently looking to appoint an SENCO to join this outstanding academy.

Your opportunity

This is an exciting position within a supportive, friendly and highly experienced academy team. As an academy that maintains its vision for transformative education for our students, we are looking for a highly visible, proactive leader to join us as SENCO.

As SENCO, you will ensure our practice is compliant with the SEND Code of Practice (2014) and other relevant statutory requirements, and ensure the implementation of our SEND policy. You will work with our SLT to maintain and develop our ethos of inclusion and a culture of high aspirations for students with SEND.

As part of our team, you will benefit from a responsive, supportive team of staff with unrivalled progression opportunities going all the way up to Executive Principalship. We also provide full support through our National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership (NPQEL) pathway. The course draws on the leadership expertise of Harris executive leaders and Directors as well as other successful MATs from across the country, providing a national standard of excellence in training.

Succession planning is a key part of our success as a Federation, and we believe that we are at the forefront of developing the next generation of Leaders. We can help prepare you for your next Senior Leadership challenge, investing in your knowledge and expertise through regular support, coaching and a wide range of professional development and training.

What we are looking for

We look for talented individuals who want to be a part of transforming education in London, and helping create exceptional places of learning. Providing a open, friendly working environment for you to grow in, the role will include responsibilities including to play a major role in formulating the aims and objectives of the academy; in establishing the policies through which they will be achieved and in monitoring progress towards their achievement; work with the SLT to lead the academy’s assessment and reporting programme and ensure the highest standards of achievement for all students, through high expectations and well balanced curriculum.

The successful candidate:

Will motivate and inspire staff and students
Will have the vision to develop the SENCO role within a high-achieving academy
Will have SEN experience in a secondary school
Will show evidence of Continuing Professional Development relevant to the SENCO role or willingness to undertake this training, and, ideally, hold the SpLD Assessment Practising Certificate

About Harris Academy Tottenham

Harris Academy Tottenham opened in September 2014. As an all-through school, it has begun with a Reception in its Primary phase and a Year 7 in its Secondary phase. These phases will grow by a year group each September until it reaches full capacity and it will also have a Sixth Form.
