SENCO Leadership Roles job summary
Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for whole school special educational needs SENCO); line manager of support assistants; oversee provision of interventions and reporting on outcomes.
Strategic lead on Attendance, supported by the Learning Mentor.
Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead

The appointment is subject to the current conditions of employment of Assistant Headteacher contained in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document, the 1998 School Standards and Framework Act, the required standards for Qualified Teacher Status and other current legislation.
Purpose of the Job:
The SENCO, under the direction of the headteacher, will:
• Determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEND) policy and provision in the school
• Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEND policy, implementation of the local offer and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEND
• Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
• The SENCO will also be expected to fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher, and teach classes, or groups when required (up to 2 days per week if required).
