SENCO job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join Leeds City Academy as SENCO. You will be an exceptional leader, who is able to share the vision for our Academy and inspire others to make a significant contribution to the academy’s mission to become world-class.
The role of SENCO is to strategically coordinate and monitor students with Special Educational Needs to ensure they have access to high quality of education ensuring they are making progress.
You will strategically lead key aspects of whole academy CPD, ensuring that staff and teachers have the knowledge, skills, and resources to secure outstanding progress for students with SEND.
The SENCO will carry out the functions of a teacher at Leeds City Academy according to the SEN needs of our students
Lead on casework and directing the Assistant SENCO’s and other LINK staff in compiling evidence and advising parents of the process for statutory assessment, establishing, monitoring and reviewing SEN intervention and ensuring high standards of learning and achievements for all students.
To provide strategic leadership of an aspect of whole school improvement directly linked to the Academy’s Strategy to Secure Outstanding. This will be discussed & agreed based on the experience and skills of the successful candidate e.g. the successful candidate will be responsible for the monitoring & support of students at Alternative Provision or will lead specific strategies to improve attainment of key students or student groups.
