About the role: From September 2022, we are seeking to appoint an experienced and qualified SENCO who, with the support of the Senior Leadership Team and the SEN department will take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy, SEN information report and provision made by the school for pupils with learning difficulties or disabilities. They will also work closely with staff, parents/carers and other agencies. The SENCO also provides professional guidance to staff in order to help ensure high quality teaching and the effective use of resources to secure an inclusive education. Candidates considering the role should have experience in leading a SEND department and collaborating with external agencies.
The role of SENCO can be highly rewarding, as you will have the opportunity to directly contribute to pupils receiving the support they need to achieve their full potential.
As a community we believe in working collaboratively and sharing good practice. If you want to be part of a team which embraces innovation and creativity then we are interested to hear from you.
For our successful candidate, being a member of staff at Wilmington Academy and the wider Trust means you’ll receive access to a great range of employment benefits from day one. Click here to view the current benefits package, and be mindful that the list is always growing.
Note that whilst the position is offered on a maternity cover basis until March 2023 in the first instance, every effort will be made to offer a substantive position thereafter, either at Wilmington Academy or within the wider family of academies across Leigh Academies Trust. The central Recruitment Team will keep in touch with you throughout your contract to discuss options available to you.
"It gives me great pleasure to share that Her Majesty’s Inspector and team believed there is enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged outstanding if a section 5 inspection were to be conducted. Therefore, Wilmington Academy will receive a section 5 inspection; usually this is within one to two years of the date of the section 8 inspection." - Mr M Gore, Principal.
