What skills and experience we're looking for
The Governing Body of Netherfield Primary School are looking to appoint a permanent and passionate SENCO to lead the provision of SEND, following the promotion to district SENCO of the current postholder.
The successful candidate willbe responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Policy across the school. The post holder will be expected to take a strategic lead in evaluating and developing the SEND provision within the school and ensure that each child is positively encouraged, supported, and challenged to make excellent progress. Knowledge of existing Nottinghamshire SEND provision and completion of the National award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordination are desirable, the latter being a requirement to complete within the first three years of post.
You will be:
- a creative practitioner and inspirational with children and colleagues
- a clear vision, energy and commitment to all aspects of school life
- Have a depth of understanding and experience of supporting the learning of pupils with the full range of abilities and needs
- Be a champion for our SEND pupils and parents as well as support our teachers in further developing their inclusive classroom practices
- an excellent communicator and be able to share your vision for SEND across the relevant stakeholders
- May/may not have previous SEND responsibility but would be willing to take on the duty
