What skills and experience we're looking for

This is an exciting opportunity to join GLT / Sandy Lane Primary School as a SENCo. You will be responsible for inspiring and motivating the school community to develop effective ways of overcoming barriers to learning and promoting effective teaching and learning for children with specific needs. You'll be an experienced teacher with a passion for supporting pupils with special educational needs. Working closely with the Headship team and other senior colleagues, you will be a strategic leader of SEND provision, manage day-to-day provision and support teachers and support staff to deliver strong outcomes for all children.

Main responsibilities to include:

To be a strategic leader of and actively champion inclusion across the school;

To provide professional development and support to colleagues across the school to secure the best possible outcomes for all children;

To take responsibility for the identification and monitoring/review/evaluation of the SEN needs within the school;

To regularly review the identification and placement of pupils with SEN on the SEN Register;

To ensure that appropriate information regarding the pupils’ SEN and support strategies are shared with all staff;

To review, refine and implement SEND and related policies to ensure best provision for our pupils.

Provide strategic leadership for the Specialist Resource Provision by identifying the strategic development and working in partnership, where appropriate, with Bracknell Forest Council.

Oversee the provision within the Specialist Resource Provision and line manage the teacher-in-charge of the Specialist Resource Provision.

You will need:

Degree or recognised qualification

Qualified Teacher Status

SENCo qualification (desirable) and/or commitment to engaging with NPQ SENCO (essential)

Evidence of training, experience and continuous professional development relevant to the post
