What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint a SENCO to lead the Curriculum Support Team and the implementation of the SEN Code of Practice. We seek to recruit a highly motivated and innovative individual who has the desire to be part of our successful and inspiring team. This post will suit a candidate who has the commitment, passion and resilience to help make a difference to students with a range of social, emotional, mental health and special educational needs. Previous experience of the role would be an advantage, as would a specialism in literacy support for students.
This role is suitable for an experienced teacher who ideally has had some other leadership experience, and has a deep and lasting interest in, and commitment to, the additional learning needs of children. It requires an incisive mind with a willingness to look creatively at educational process, and the interpersonal and communication skills to manage a wide range of sometimes challenging relationships and conversations. A legal expectation is that the school SENCO must be a qualified teacher and that they must successfully complete the NASENCO qualification by the end of the third year in post.
