At The Cranbourne Primary School we know that all children can achieve. We are looking for a SENCO with a passion for teaching and learning who is ready to advocate for children with special educational needs and disabilities, and to support staff to enable them to be confident teachers of children with SEND.This is a part time role – 4 days per week. You will be part of the senior leadership team, helping to formulate and drive the strategic vision for the school.

No two days will ever be the same in this diverse role as you:

  • Support staff to ensure high quality learning

  • Organise and monitor interventions

  • Deploy and monitor the work of SEND support staff

  • Liaise with parents

  • Liaise with external professionals

  • Prepare paperwork for EHCP applications and reviews

We pride ourselves on the behaviour and attitude of our children, in a school with a higher than average number of EHCPs.

We would like you to have:

  • Qualified teacher status

  • Holder of NASENCo, currently undertaking NASENCo, or willingness to undertake the new SENCO NPQ

  • Involvement in self-evaluation and development planning

  • Understanding of what makes ‘quality first’ teaching, and of effective intervention strategies

  • Ability to plan and evaluate interventions

  • Data analysis skills and the ability to use data to inform provision planning

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships with all stakeholders, including parents

  • An understanding of and a commitment to the nurturing ethos

  • Commitment to equal opportunities and securing good outcomes for pupils with SEND

  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times

  • Commitment to safeguarding and equality

  • Experience of teaching across the primary age range
