SENCo job summary

The Victory Primary School wishes to appoint a qualified SENCo, or someone who is committed to acquiring the relevant qualifications, to join their team and lead and manage support for their pupils with Special Educational Needs and disabilities (SEND). They will oversee inclusive practices across the school, and be highly effective in managing quality provision for children with SEND, raising standards and enabling all pupils to achieve their very best.

Alongside a strong team of Learning Support Assistants and pastoral staff, the SENCo will work to secure high quality teaching, effective use of resources and improved standards of learning and achievement for all pupils but particularly for those on the SEND register. A key aspect of the role will be to manage the School’s Inclusion Centre and maintain its excellent reputation amongst the community.

Working with SEND pupils will be a vocation of the successful applicant, and they will come with knowledge and enthusiasm. They will be a key member of the SLT with no regular teaching responsibilities. United Learning offers a generous salary and relocation expenses, where required. Together we can achieve ‘The Best in Everyone’.

The Victory Primary School is part of United Learning, a large and growing group of schools aiming to offer life-changing education to children across England. Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resources, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

At The Victory, we have two-year groups from Reception to Year 6 with a pre-school on site. A unique feature of our school is that we also have an Inclusion Centre for children across Portsmouth with communication and interaction needs.
