What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a candidate with experience of working with students with SEN in order to facilitate excellent SEND support. The successful candidate will join a team of dedicated support staff at the Academy. This post is term time plus additional days (to be confirmed).

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • Qualifications to degree level or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of SEND and learning barriers
  • Some knowledge of strategies in working with young people with challenging behaviours
  • Knowledge of some of the social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Awareness of Health and Safety issues in the workplace
  • Experience of working directly with young people in an education or training environment, supporting the learning of students
  • Experience of establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders, at all levels
  • Experience of managing and being responsible for your own workload

Further details about the role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing annual review paperwork including completion of forms, gathering feedback from teachers allocating dates for reviews and attending meetings
  • Developing bespoke learning assistant timetables to support students across the Academy and co-planning LSA interventions
  • Supporting SENDCo with management of LSA Team including arranging cover, daily management, LSA Learning Walks
  • Coordinating the Speech and Language provision in the school by devising timetables and communicating with all stakeholders
  • Liaising with external practitioners to schedule and coordinate visits
  • Representing the SEND department at whole Academy wellbeing meetings at Key Stage 3 and 4 (Safeguarding Training Level 3)
  • Completing screening tools for SEN
  • Supporting Y6-7 Transition by contacting/visiting primary schools, families, arranging school tours and gathering SEND information
  • Supporting the SENDCo with SEN Consultation responses
  • Sharing SEN information with teaching staff including writing Individual Development Plans for SEND pupils
  • Supporting the Exams Office in completing access arrangement documentation for pupils who may need extra support in their public examinations
  • Managing Individual Health Care Plans for pupils with medical needs
  • Administering First Aid and manage medical tracker records
