What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for a highly motivated and committed candidate to take on the role of SEND Administrator. Ideally you will have had school based experience and want to work with young people.
The successful candidate will be supporting the SENCo and Learning Support Team in managing the SEND provision for identified students. Duties will include:
- Preparing documentation for and arranging annual reviews for students with Education, Health and Care Plans in line with statutory requirements
- Organising and hosting of visiting education and medical professionals
- Ensuring school SEND records are up to date and communicating changes to relevant staff
- General administrative tasks such as managing the SENCo’s appointments, minute-taking in meetings, and ordering of SEND resources
- Supporting Exams Officer with the administration of Exam Access Arrangements
- Coordination of reading and spelling testing to help identify where further intervention may be needed
The successful applicant will:
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Develop relationships with parents and multi-agencies that positively support SEND students
- Have plenty of initiative, drive and be capable of multi-tasking
- Be highly organised and capable of handling varied workloads, sometimes under pressure
- Be proactive in organising and maintaining effective administrative systems and have strong ICT skills
- Have a positive and professional manner

The School John Hanson is a comprehensive community school for students aged 11 – 16. There are currently 980 students on roll; the teaching establishment is around 55 teachers, 55 support staff and a strong sense of community. The Leadership team are totally committed to the principles of comprehensive education and providing the very best learning experience we can for each individual. It is the school’s role to ensure that all students and staff are supported to reach their full potential. The school can trace its origins back to 1569 with the foundation of Andover Grammar School. In the 1970s the grammar school became a comprehensive school and was renamed John Hanson School after an original benefactor of the Grammar School. In 2002 the school relocated to a greenfield site towards the outskirts of Andover, very close to the A303.
