Are you looking for an exciting new challenge? Oak View School is a good school (Ofsted 2022) and due to the promotion of one of our Assistant Head Teachers to Headship, we are looking for an inspiring and imaginative leader to join our Senior Leadership Team. We are a specialist provision school and currently have 130 pupils who have significant, severe and complex needs.
- You will help to develop creative new approaches to learning throughout the school.
- We are an outfacing school and aim to further develop links with local partners to benefit our pupils and young people.
- You will share responsibility for safeguarding with the Head.
- You will have responsibility for the Middle School Department and work with the Middle School Manager to secure good outcomes for all.
- You will be a key player in moving the school from “good to outstanding”.
- You will take responsibility for specific areas of school life (to be agreed dependent on experience).
- This is a non-class based role.
Your role will be flexible and will reflect the priorities of the school development plan. You will have particular responsibility for driving forward specific aspects of the SDP.
The post offers the opportunity to gain a wide and varied experience of school leadership and management. It also offers the chance for the right candidate to be innovative and to make their mark in a rapidly developing school.
You will need to demonstrate a proven track record of outstanding teaching and working with pupils who have a range of Special Educational Needs. Equally, we would like you to have experience of leadership in SEND practice. You will have an inclusive approach to education, high aspirations for all pupils, staff and the school. You will be able to lead and motivate a team. You will be a reflective practitioner who models emotional intelligence and resilience and is proactive in their work, constantly seeking to improve provision and outcomes for all pupils.
We are a small school, and therefore it is imperative that the successful candidate can build effective working relationships with colleagues, pupils, parents/carers and external agencies.
We are a friendly, supportive and highly skilled staff team and work with unique and engaging pupils. Our Team works closely with parents and professionals from a number of other fields. We are a Trauma Perspective Practice (TPP) school, with our values and ethos deeply embedded in understanding our pupils at the deepest root and responding to them using bespoke strategies to enable them to flourish and make progress whilst in our care.
Our school sits within the Epping Forest School Partnership Trust. Oak View School is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Certificate is required for this post prior to commencement.
