SEND Class Teacher (Additionally Resourced Provision) job summary
South Orpington Learning Alliance Multi-Academy Trust is looking for two enthusiastic and highly motivated teachers who have a passion to work creatively to deliver and continuously improve the learning experiences to a class of children with Severe and Complex Needs.
Tubbenden Primary School is a three-form entry primary school with an Additionally Resourced Provision for children with Severe and Complex Special Educational Needs across three classes. All children in our ARP have Education, Health and Care Plans. We work as a team and share a clear understanding of what we are aiming to achieve for the children. We remain one of Bromley’s most popular ARPs and take pride in the provision we offer our children.
Our school can offer engaging, uniquely brilliant children, a friendly and supportive working community, and a new SEND purpose-built environment.
Our latest Ofsted report describes the school as being ‘an incredibly caring school’ and ‘a nurturing community where everyone is valued’.
Experience in teaching children with SEN is desirable but not a necessity. A flexible approach to teaching and learning, and the ability to plan and meet individual needs is essential.
‘Our vision is for every child in a SOLA school to be included, to know that they are important and to acquire and develop the tools, character and values that will enable them to be happy, to contribute, and to thrive throughout their lives.’
Candidates will need to:
a) be committed to high standards of progress and personal development for each child on an individualised Personal Learning Plan (PLP)
b) have a good understanding of delivering approaches to teaching and learning including a multi-sensory approach and teaching in a carousel or free flow structure
c) be an excellent classroom practitioner with a vast range of techniques for behaviour management including de-escalation
d) have a strong commitment to ensuring children make progress towards their personalised targets and outcomes on their PLPs and EHCP
e) be innovative and inspirational to both pupils and colleagues
f) have a positive outlook and a sense of humor
The successful candidates will be expected to be fully committed to the values, vision, ethos and aims of the Trust and the school s/he will be assigned to. In return, the Trust offers a highly supportive environment with a strong focus on staff wellbeing including an Employee Assistance Programme, available to all staff as well as a friendly and supportive working community and a brand new SEN purpose-built environment. We value continuous professional development and offer clear direction and vision from senior staff.
