What skills and experience we're looking for

This role is suitable for a qualified teacher experienced in leading on SEND.

The SEND Coordinator will take lead responsibility to:

  • Determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school

  • Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual children with SEN or a disability
  • Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
  • The SEND Coordinator will be expected to fulfil the responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the STPCD

The job requires a person who

  • Is an excellent teacher with SEN Co qualification or working towards it
  • Has experience of leading and delivering quality policies and provision for SEND
  • Ability to build effective working relationships
  • Can lead and be part of a team
