SEND Hub Teacher/PPA teacher job summary

The governors and the leadership team are looking to appoint a teacher-in-charge for our new SEND Hub.
The successful candidate will:
Have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of SEND, and a thorough knowledge of appropriate teaching and learning strategies for these pupils.
Be confident deploying staff.
Be adaptable and able to work under pressure.
Be open to support and advice from the local authority, families and other professionals working with these children.
Have high expectations of what all pupils can achieve, no matter their starting point.
Be approachable, kind, compassionate and act in accordance with the Catholic ethos and values of the school (we welcome applications from both Catholic and non-Catholic candidates).
Job description and main responsibilities:
Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEN policy with a focus on the Specialism of the SEND Hub.
Co-ordinating provision for children/ young people in the SEND Hub.
Liaising with the relevant Designated Teacher where a Looked After/Child in Care pupil attends the SEND Hub.
Advising on the graduated approach to providing specialist support for children/ young people attending the SEND Hub.
Liaising with parent/carers of SEND Hub children/ young people.
Liaising, alongside the SENDCO with other schools, educational psychologists, health and social care professionals, and independent or voluntary bodies regarding children/young people attending the SEND Hub.
Being a key point of contact alongside the SEND Hub Manager for external agencies, especially Norfolk County Council and its specialist support services regarding children/ young people attending the SEND Hub.
Liaising with potential future providers of education to ensure a child’s/ young person and their parents are informed about options and a smooth transition is planned.
Undertake any reasonable duties outlined by the Headteacher in line with the role of a teacher, such as PPA cover.

As this is a new venture, the role will be on a 1 year fixed contract initially with the view to making it a more permanent role.
