Job description

- Overall classroom responsibility.
- There is some flexibility but one of these roles could be in an autism specific class.
- To plan, prepare and implement an appropriate programme of learning for pupils.
- To assess and evaluate pupils' work and provide records of evidence of learning and progress.
- To lead a team of teaching assistants.
- To lead and monitor a subject/area of responsibility across the age and ability range of the school.
- To positively promote and contribute to the team ethos of the Academy.
- To take an active part in relevant meetings/working groups.

Essential skills and experience

- Proven and successful experience of teaching.
- Experience of working with children with a range of SEND.
- Knowledge of commonly used resources and strategies to support pupils with a range of SEND.
- Experience working with children with autism could be advantageous.
- High expectations of pupil achievement and attainment.
- Ability to differentiate not simplify the curriculum.
- A good understanding of positive approaches to behaviour management.
- Ability to lead and manage a small team.
- Ability to work cooperatively and positively with a wide range of colleagues and other professionals.
- Ability to contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school.
