  • Understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these.

  • An understanding of SEND.

  • Level 2/3 TA qualification/NVQ 2 for Teaching Assistants or appropriate level of experience of operating in the classroom environment

  • Certificate in first aid

  • An awareness of the General Data Processing Regulations (GDPR).

  • A knowledge and understanding of basic hygiene and intimate care.

  • GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths.

  • Experience of working in EYFS or KS1

Birchfield Primary School is situated in an outer suburb of South Leeds. It enjoys a particularly pleasant aspect backing on to fields and has a very well-maintained building. The majority of our pupils live locally in the village of Gildersome. Our school is a popular one and we are regularly oversubscribed. Our school is single form entry (from Reception – Y6). We also have a Nursey and Buddies, our before and after school provision. Our Nursery caters for 52 children, with flexible provision. The school enjoys excellent links with the local community. We are part of Morley Family of Schools and we are a member of ‘The Morley Primary Partnership’-a group of 8 local schools who work together, sharing good practice.

The school is single form entry (from Foundation 2 – Y6) and we have a purpose built Foundation Unit that serves the village - F1 catering for a further 52 children with flexible provision. The school enjoys excellent links with the local community, is a member of ‘The Morley Primary Partnership’ a group of 8 local schools who work together sharing good practice, moderation, special projects and inset, and is an active member of the larger Morley Family of Schools.
