What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you passionate about working with pupils with additional special educational needs, wanting to ensure their learning experiences are both meaningful and fun?

An exciting and rare opportunity to be the whole school SENDCo and lead the SEN Resource Base, comprised of two classes supporting the needs of children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), has arisen. This role is ideally suited to those with previous experience of being a mainstream SENDCo (including as a SENDCo assistant) or, teaching pupils within a specialist SEN provision with a good knowledge of communication and interaction needs. This role provides ample non-contact time to fulfil leadership responsibilities with a small teaching commitment (up to 0.4), making this an ideal opportunity for those seeking more responsibility and leadership opportunities.

Successful candidates will be:

  • a skilled professional who has an engaging and dynamic style of teaching and supporting colleagues
  • willing to support the Catholic ethos of the school
  • driven to make sure all our children achieve their very best, having high expectations of behaviour and achievement
  • passionate about continuing their own professional development and open to learn and develop as part of a whole school team
  • have had experience of teaching and supporting children with SEND
  • Knowledgeable in the practices of SEN, including statutory paperwork to apply for and annually review EHCPs
  • able to work with and coordinate outside professionals to support pupils with SEND
  • able prepared to work flexibly as part of a close knit partnership using shared teaching approaches to learning.
