What skills and experience we're looking for
Job overview
You’ll hold key responsibility for all aspects of leading and managing SEN and wider inclusive provision across the school, including data analysis, supporting planning and implementation of interventions and strategies for SEN pupils alongside the Senior Leadership Team, and monitoring day-to-day operations with regards to the SEN policy and provision.
You’ll also contribute to evaluation and review processes that are in place, providing further guidance to teaching staff with delivering provision to SEN students and modelling successful inclusive strategies to promote high levels of achievement.
Job requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent alongside an Honours degree
- National Award for SEN coordination, or a willingness to complete it within 3 years of appointment
- PAPAA (Postgraduate Award in Proficiency in Assessment for Access Arrangements
- Essential experience within team leadership and implementation of SEN policies
- A sound knowledge of Child Safeguarding and the SEN code of practice
- Ability to plan and evaluate interventions, using data analysis skills to review EHCP pupils and inform plans for provision
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Experience
- Access arrangements experience
- Have a thorough understanding of the current edition of the JCQ publication ‘Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments’ and the principles, procedures and accountabilities involved
- Teaching experience and supporting students with SEN is essential Leadership and management experience in a school setting
- Experience of working at a whole-school level
- Involvement in self-evaluation and development planning
- Be familiar with the Equality Act 2010, helping to identify access arrangements that might assist the student
Skills and knowledge
- Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice: 0 to 25 years
- Understanding of what makes ‘quality first’ teaching, and of effective intervention strategies
- Ability to plan and evaluate interventions
- Data analysis skills and the ability to use data to inform provision planning Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build effective working relationships
- Ability to influence and negotiate
- Good record-keeping skills

Barnwood Park is a co-educational 11-16 comprehensive school.
