SENDCo/Designated Teacher for Looked After and Previously Looked After Children job summary
Woodfield Academy is looking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated and dynamic SENDCo/Designated Teacher for Looked After and Previously Looked After Children to lead these areas. This is a role for a talented teacher with a commitment to inclusion who shares our determination to enable every child to maximise their development and outcomes. Your role will play a key part in supporting our pupils to develop as confident, ambitious individuals who are emotionally and intellectually equipped for a brighter future and in supporting the Inclusion Leader.
Our new SENDCO must:
• Have an excellent knowledge and understanding of the statutory requirements of the SEND Code of Practice and practical application strategies for meeting the special educational needs of pupils
• Have substantial experience of working with children with SEND and EHCPs (particularly of working with pupils with Autism)
• Have experience of working with children who have additional social, emotional and/or mental health needs
• Have the ability to lead and manage a team of support staff to ensure provision matches the needs of all pupils with special or additional educational needs
• Have a passion for ensuring the life chances of Looked After and Previously Looked After Children are planned for and make a difference to their personal, social and emotional development and academic outcomes
• Have the ability and skills needed to ensure continued inclusion improvement through coaching and feedback
• Have the ability to form strong partnerships with parents and offer them the support, advice and the reassurance they often seek in ensuring their child’s needs are being met
• Have confidence in the use of data to analyse and evaluate performance, presenting information to a variety of audiences
• Have a high standard of written and verbal communication skills
• Have excellent organisational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
• Be effective in working in partnerships with multi-agency professionals
• Have resilience and the ability to work under pressure
