Job description

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, dynamic leader of SEND provision. This is a critical role in the development of the college and we seek an individual who will become a passionate advocate for our students with SEND. Elliott Hudson College is committed to transforming the lives of young people in the Leeds City region, especially those who face the most significant challenges. Our standards and expectations are high and we expect our leaders to strive for excellence in all aspects of our provision, both inside and outside of the classroom. As SENDCO we would expect that you are able to deliver your specialist subject to the highest standard and be a model of good practice for SEND support.

Essential educational requirements

• Good honours degree

Essential qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status

Essential skills and experience

• Ability to deliver any subject specified in the EHC curriculum
• Detailed knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice
• Knowledge of current curriculum developments in subject and their implications
• Exceptional levels of literacy and the skills to disseminate this knowledge to others
• Proven ability to use intervention strategies to raise attainment of learners
• Ability to turn vision into reality
• Ability to inspire and motivate others
• Ability to use data to track and monitor student learning and achievement
• Experience dealing with Special Educational Needs.
• Excellent record of student performance in public examinations
• Successful experience of Middle Leadership
• Proven track record in raising standards and achievement
• Record of contribution to extra-curricular activities
• Record of contribution to whole school strategies
• Evidence of leading highly successful and aspirational Special Educational Needs events
