St Hugh’s Catholic Primary school is one of the largest schools in the area, currently serving approximately 680 pupils. We are an extremely popular school with a long-standing excellent reputation. We are very proud of our school with its happy and caring atmosphere, underpinned by our Catholic aims, ethos and mission statement. We offer pupils who attend our school a wide and varied curriculum.
The core National Curriculum is further enhanced through our vast extended curriculum including sporting opportunities, music tuition, specialist teaching, drama, productions and school trips. Our aim is to develop your child’s full potential. Our outcomes for both attainment and value-added are well above average compared to national levels. We prepare children to be lifelong learners in readiness for secondary education.
We serve the parish of St Hugh and St John and our close connections ensure that your child is supported throughout their faith journey as well as their educational journey. Our Parish priests, Fr Pat and Fr Tomasz form an integral part of our school – in fact the partnership between home, school and parish is extremely strong and underpins our day-today life in school.
We are fortunate to feed to three Outstanding Secondary schools: Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College, Loreto Grammar and St Ambrose College. Trafford operates a selective system; many of our children and parents choose a grammar school education following their time at St Hugh’s. Children attending our school take priority for admission to our feeder schools.
Our school is successful because of the significant efforts of everyone who is connected with the school. This includes the pupils, the staff, the governors and the parents and carers. We hope that by working as a team we can continue to provide our children with the rounded, fulfilling education that they deserve.
