SENDCO - Primary Phase job summary
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic,
highly organised and excellent SENDCO to join our friendly and supportive Primary
Phase, who will drive SEND across the Primary Phase. The successful candidate will be capable of
inspiring pupils through their passion for teaching and learning, and a desire
to make a difference to pupil achievement. Due to Washwood Heath Academy being
an All through Academy, there is potential to work with colleagues and pupils
in Key Stage 3 and 4 to gain further subject specific development gain an understanding
and be involved in how pupils develop and progress, and the skills needed on
their transition into Key Stage 3.
Washwood Heath Academy is
a relatively new All Through Academy (Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form) in the
East of Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a newly developed
Primary team and contribute to Primary Phase, which seeks to provide a first
class education for all of its learners. In order for all pupils to achieve academic excellence,
we deliver a knowledge-rich curriculum, following Rosenshine’s Principles. We believe that all pupils are entitled to
learn about ‘The best, which has been thought and said’ (Matthew Arnold).
Our school is in a central location, with wonderful and enthusiastic pupils, amazing staff who always go the extra mile for their classes. We are part of the Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust, which is a family of local schools located within 15 minutes of one another: 4 Primary schools, 2 Secondary schools and 1 All-through school. To be part of the next stage of the school’s exciting journey, the Academy would like to appoint a successful SENDCO, ensuring they can:
- Create an environment across the school where SEND children are engaged with all subjects throughout the curriculum.
- Monitor and evaluate the SEND provision, analysing data and moderation of assessments.
- Mentor and support colleagues through a solid understanding of the curriculum, SEND provision and excellent pedagogical practices.
- Contribute towards the vision for the school and its development plan as part of the MLT as the SENDCO.
KEY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
- To work in partnership with the Head of Academy and Head of Primary Phase as part of the Middle Leadership Team, in securing high quality SEND teaching and learning across the school. To lead SEND throughout the Primary phase.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- · To fulfil the professional duties as specified in the Teachers Pay and Conditions Document.
- To lead SEND.
MAIN REQUIREMENTS:
- Have excellent knowledge on SEND and the provision for SEND children
- Experience of teaching throughout the Primary phase
- Experience of Key stage 2 SATs and moderation
- Understanding of EYFS & KS1 statutory tests linked to English or Maths
- Good sense of humour
- Committed and enthusiastic
