What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint a SENDCo/Teacher who has experience of providing the highest quality of education, care and preparation for life for all students in the school, particularly those in the Engage SEND provision. All students no matter what their backgrounds, needs or abilities have the right to access a full curriculum. As a result, this new position has been established and the ideal candidate would need to be a specialist in SEND to deliver the curriculum at an appropriate level for the students in Engage and throughout school. They will work closely with the Vice Principal for Inclusion (SEND), Assistant SENDCo, the SEND team, including the Head of Wellbeing to ensure all needs are met. Students will access mainstream lessons where appropriate, and this position will offer support and work closely with teachers to ensure that all SEND students are able to access the work.
The Engage Unit opened in September 2019 and has already recognized that due to the complex needs of our students there is capacity for further enrichment within the provision and more bespoke work needs to be offered. Increasingly there are more students with cognitive abilities that are well below their chronological age and the addition of a SENDCo to the team would enhance the work that is already being carried out.
What the school offers its staff

- A ‘stage not age’ attitude to career development opportunities
- A school that provides rich opportunities for extra-curricular activities including the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme, team sports, dramatic performances, amongst others.
