Start Date, April 2024
At Winton Community Academy, our students are diverse, exciting and talented - and the same is true of our staff. We put huge emphasis on professional development, most of it in-house, and are proud of the high number of good and outstanding teachers who work in our school. We are also noted for our 'can do' attitude. We are keen, always, to encourage new and/or young staff to make their mark as soon as they are ready.
We are proud to serve the communities around Andover in the centre of Hampshire, a short commute from Winchester, Salisbury and many picturesque Hampshire villages. Ofsted judged us as a 'Good academy' in January 2018 and with a new, passionate Principal, Rebecca Clark in place, we are looking to build upon our strengths and develop into a truly outstanding place to learn and teach.
We are looking to welcome an outstanding, innovative and determined SENDCO to be responsible for the strategic leadership of Special Education Needs provision with the tenacity to turn ideas into reality. The successful candidate will have high expectations of children's achievements and a proven record of excellent classroom practice, there will be a teaching commitment as part of the role.
Applicants may already have the National Award for SENDCOs. However, we are happy to receive applications from staff who understand and are working with the SEN Code of Practice, and we will support them in gaining the NASENCo qualification.
School visits are welcome, to arrange please contact Jackie Lusk.

The school has rapidly improved and was graded a "Good" school by Ofsted in 2018. Our school is quickly gaining a positive reputation across Andover as a place where excellent teaching and strong support means that students thrive at our school.
Our students are our absolute strength. They are overwhelmingly polite, respectful and hard-working. We expect our students to work hard and behave well both inside and outside of the classroom. Over the last two years we have invested heavily in improving the resources that students have access to such as a new dance studio, a new library and the development of our animal management area as we believe our students deserve the best in order to be successful. As a community, we live and breathe our school values as we all understand that by adhering to them our community will be a better place to learn.
