What skills and experience we're looking for
We wish to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated person who adheres to the ethos of our friendly and welcoming Church of England Academy. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for our academy. They will take responsibility for the day to day running of the school office, including a range of administrative and financial areas. They will work closely with the Family Support Worker and Head of School as well as pupils, parents, visitors and representatives from our Multi Academy Trust.
The successful applicant will be someone who:
- Recognises the place of confidentiality in the office environment
- Can act under their own initiative when required
- Has a pleasant, patient demeanour as the first communication point with parents, contractors & visitors
- Communicates in a professional manner, face to face, over the telephone & by email/text messages etc.
- Can work at speed, accurately, under pressure while maintaining a friendly and calm professional manner
- Is educated to GCSE standard or NVQ or equivalent qualification, or suitable experience in a similar role
- Is self-driven and has good personal time management meaning they can work alone in a busy school office
- Is committed to keep our pupils, their families and colleagues safe by adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures
The successful candidate will be accountable for the following:
- Being the first point of contact for our academy
- Day-to-day clerical duties include responding to or forwarding emails, answering the phone and liaising with parents
- Ensuring that they have a thorough understanding of the life of the academy to ensure they give precise, accurate information to families and visitors
- Leading on internal financial duties such as purchase ordering, supporting educational visits and monitoring family debts
- Completing and uploading the school Census and other data reporting
- Maintaining high levels of safeguarding and health & safety training and practice
- Ensuring communication with families and outside agencies is clear and consistent through the use of online platforms, face to face conversations, telephone conversations and the proof reading and sending out of letters
- Any other duties as directed by the Senior Leadership Team which are commensurate with the grading of the post and educational setting
