Senior Finance Officer job summary

The Trust currently comprises of Bayards Hill, a popular primary school, and Cheney School, a large successful secondary school. We are in the process of taking on additional schools with Barton Park due to open in September 2020 and are a Trust that recognises the individual needs and ethos of the schools we support.

We are committed to continuous professional development and have wide-ranging training and development opportunities, including supporting employees with post-graduate studies to attain a professional qualification. The post holder would receive professional mentoring from the Head of Finance (a qualified accountant). We are mindful of the competing demands people face in their lives and are happy to consider part-time applications.

We are looking for a Senior Finance Officer to provide high level support to our Head of Finance and play an integral part in the Finance Team.

The role, which forms part of the growth of the Trust, would involve:

Overseeing the day-to-day financial administration needs of the academies within the Trust.

The line management of the finance team including training and appraisal

Management of the monthly payroll cycle

Manage and develop the Trust’s monthly management reporting, ensuring robust budget management

Contributing towards the improvement and development of the financial procedures and ensuring full compliance across the Trust

Supporting the Head of Finance with preparation of statutory financial returns

Supporting the Head of Finance with the preparation of the Trust’s annual budgets

The role is for 37 hours per week, term-time only plus ten days.
