Job Title: Senior Science Technician

We are looking to appoint a passionate and dedicated Senior Science Technician to work with teaching and other school support staff to undertake a range of tasks and duties, facilitating and actively contributing to high quality teaching and learning for students with respect to science.


Key responsibilities


Reporting to the Head of Faculty, this post holder will be accountable for:


  • To undertake a range of line management duties for Technicians, including allocation of work, ensure work is completed to deadlines and required quality standards, assist with recruitment, monitor performance management and undertake development reviews
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all apparatus and equipment. Monitor and control and efficient stock control system and associated records for the Department.
  • Ensure that laboratories, workshops, kitchens and preparation rooms are maintained in a well organised, clean and tidy condition, ensuring the safe storage and accessibility of equipment, tools and materials.
  • Under the direction of a teacher, conduct practical aspects of science, design and technology work, including practical demonstrations to students.


Pay range

SCP6-11 £21,014.46 - £22,849.14 - FTE: £23,893 - £25,979

37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year


Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5 GSCE's
  • Good knowledge of up to date techniques, materials and equipment relevant to provision of the National Curriculum
  • Experience of managing stock control and record keeping
  • Effective behaviour management skills
