Term Time plus 2 Weeks (41 weeks) 37 hours per week (job share considered)

We are seeking a Senior Science Technician to play a key role in enhancing the quality of science education and encourage our students to realise their full potential. You will work with a highly professional team to provide efficient and effective technical support to students, using your knowledge to gain educational-based experience.

As Senior Science Technician you will be welcomed into an experienced team of professionals to:

  • To liaise with science teaching staff, ensuring that they are supported in delivering high quality practical science lessons
  • To be the line manager for the Science Technicians
  • Support the continued development of the Science Technicians through performance management
  • Prepare apparatus and equipment for practical lessons
  • Ensure the maintenance and servicing of science machinery, equipment and apparatus
  • Assist with creating inspiring teaching displays throughout the department
  • To be responsible for the control and management of chemical stocks and equipment under the supervision of the Head of Science. This includes placing orders, receiving new stock, maintaining and updating inventories, keeping records of expenditure and undertaking routine stock checks
  • To work with colleagues in the science department to create, develop and maintain health and safety records, including risk assessments, COSHH information, practical procedures and records of safety checks
  • To participate in internal and external training as required
