What skills and experience we're looking for

  • Communication skills, oral, written to a variety of audiences

  • The ability to deliver well planned, organised and innovative lessons/interventions

  • Proficiency in the use of ICT and the software programmes used in school.

  • Must hold Qualified Teacher Status

  • Nationally recognised SENDCo qualification

  • Level 7 Access Arrangement Assessor - desirable

  • Ambitious and committed to own professional development

  • The ability to deal effectively with students, parents and all stakeholders.

  • To be flexible when working within Inclusion and be able to prioritise workload efficiently.

  • Understanding of Child Protection procedures

  • Team player and highly motivated

  • An understanding of the needs of SEND children

  • Evidence of further professional development which demonstrates an understanding of the current issues impacting on SEND provision

  • Proven track record of raising achievement through outstanding classroom practice.

  • Evidence of relevant continuing professional development, including for example NPQH - desirable

Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys are looking for an innovative and dedicated leader who will work alongside the leadership team to achieve our vision of success for everyone. We believe that every child is unique and special and has the capacity within them to succeed, both at an academic and personal level.

As Senior SENDCo, you will play a key role in driving the strategic direction of our inclusive practices to ensure that our SEND students achieve the best possible outcomes. You will be an inspiring practitioner with the energy and creativity to motivate a team, lead by example and challenge staff and students to ensure that success is achieved. This position has the advantage of an administrative assistant Monday-Friday to directly support the Senior SENDCo and the Learning Support Department.
