Senior Teaching Assistant SEND job summary

English Martyrs Catholic School and Sixth Form College are seeking a dedicated Senior Teaching Assistant (Specialist SEMH) to join our team and make a real difference in the lives of our pupils. This role focuses on supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, working closely with pastoral leads and SEND teachers to plan and deliver targeted interventions.

As a key member of our support staff, you will:

  • Provide specialist SEMH interventions for individuals, small groups, and whole classes.
  • Collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams, parents, and external agencies to ensure pupils receive the best possible support.
  • Use SEMH assessments to plan, deliver, and adapt interventions that promote emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour.
  • Contribute to the development of personalised learning plans and monitor pupil progress.
  • Share expertise with colleagues and deliver CPD sessions to enhance whole-school understanding of SEMH needs.
