Site and Health & Safety Manager job summary
Ivel Valley School is a local authority-maintained area special school catering for children and young adults aged 3 to 19 years who have a wide range of complex learning needs and disabilities. The school is located at two sites in Biggleswade.
This post is one of three site agents/managers who share responsibility for all aspects of facilities and property management across the three sites but this post has specific responsibility for health and safety management. This also includes general caretaking responsibilities such as locking up, some cleaning, porterage, waste management and day to day maintenance and repairs.
We are looking for someone with relevant experience of premises management who can also work to continually improve our health and safety policies, procedures and records across the school. However, just as important is the need to understand and adapt to the unique environment that is Ivel Valley School and anything that is implemented, improved or developed needs to work in the context of the school for it to be successful. Therefore the role holder would need to have excellent interpersonal skills and be flexible, proactive and able to remain positive whatever the day brings.
The school is open between 6am and 6pm Monday to Friday (hours vary during school holidays) and for out of hours lettings.
Hours: 37 hours per week - (all year round) – 10:00-6pm (4 days) 10:30am-6pm (1 day) includes 30 minute break (hours may vary during school holidays) plus out of hours lettings (paid as overtime).
