Site Assistant job summary

At Ormiston Maritime Academy (OMA), we are looking for an experienced, highly-motivated and committed Site Assistant to support and enhance our learning environment and contribute the day-to-day management of the academy site, ensuring a high level of hygiene and safety is maintained. You will ensure that the school has effective and efficient operational support functions relating to site management that meet the needs and expectations of all stakeholders including compliance with the Trust Head Office policies and processes.

Hours of work are 37 hours per week, all year round with 26 days annual leave (rising to 29 days after 5 years service). Occasional working later in the evenings and at weekends will be required, for which excess hours are paid.

Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as designated key holder for Academy premises
  • Ensuring premises, buildings and ancillary equipment are properly maintained
  • Performing general repairs/maintenance and undertake cleaning duties where required
  • Operate and regularly check systems such as heating and cooling
  • Monitor the work of contractors on site ensuring self, and others, comply with site security and the safe use, storage, and handling of chemicals and equipment
