Site Supervisor job summary

Merryfields School is a generic special school for children aged 3-11 years in Wolstanton, Newcastle-under-Lyme.  We provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment in which we give children the best possible start to their education.  Staff work hard to maintain a friendly, inclusive and professional atmosphere where nurturing our children’s love of learning is at the heart of everything that we do.

The successful candidate will support our school in providing a safe, effective, and efficient learning environment.

As Site Supervisor your responsibilities will include general caretaking duties including maintenance and repairs (may include joinery, plumbing and decorating), waste management, statutory and compliance activities and health and safety checks.  You will also lead on statutory testing and compliance checks of the school’s swimming pool.  As the nominated Key Holder you will be responsible for opening and closing of the school premises as well as any emergency call outs. You will hold a full and clean driving licence to assist with the maintenance requirements of the school mini-bus.

The role will require you to be capable to cope with physically challenging duties due to the built and outdoor environments we have at the school.

You will also have excellent communication skills and be ready to deal with a variety of situations.

As Site Supervisor you will need to work flexibly at all times and may on occasion be required to work weekends.

Line management will include a small team of site staff including a Caretaker and Cleaning Staff.

Previous experience of Site Supervision is desirable but not essential as full training will be given suitable to the role.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged and can be arranged by contacting the school.

The closing date for applications is 9:00am on Monday 16th October with interviews to be held on Friday 20th October.

We look forward to welcoming your application.

Merryfields school is a multi-cultural and diverse school and actively encourages applications from all candidates.

This School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  A copy of the Safeguarding Policy is available on the school website.  This position is subject to a criminal records check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) which will require you to disclose details of all unspent and unfiltered spent reprimands, formal warnings, cautions and convictions in your application form.  By engaging in this recruitment process, shortlisted candidates consent to an online search in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education Guidance 2022
