Would you like to join a regionally top performing academy in East Sussex? Would you like to teach one of our most popular GCSE and A-level subjects?

We have a rare opportunity to join our Humanities department in our growing academy as a Sociology Teacher.

Sociology is a popular subject at Ark Alexandra Academy. Year on year there has been a significant in increase in the numbers of students choosing to do Sociology at both GCSE and at A-level. Students are invested in the subject and really see its value in terms of developing critical thinking, understanding theoretical perspectives on specific sociological issues and appreciating how this is relevant to their lives. Sociology at Ark Alexandra Academy really supports the ethos and beliefs of the school as a whole as the knowledge and skills students gain from the study of the subject mean they can become very active contributors to society.

Support and professional development are a priority at our academy. We invest in our teachers by providing regular coaching, career planning and weekly training sessions. We have an “open door” lesson policy which ensures you receive extensive support and we promote peer-to-peer sharing of practice, all designed to help you be the best teacher you can be. We also have the benefit of being part of the Ark, an international charity and one of the UK’s most successful multi-academy trusts, with a network of 38 schools across the UK all sharing best practice and great ideas.

As the ideal candidate you will:
• Be flexible, enthusiastic, well organised and demonstrate strong behaviour management
• Be committed to raising attainment in a challenging classroom environment
• Have a resilient character and a strong personal drive
• Have an unwavering determination to work with students of all abilities
• Be committed to continually improving classroom practice

We take the well-being of our staff seriously, as we recognise that education can be a challenging profession. We offer health benefits such as a subsidised gym membership and Employee Assistance Programme or if you prefer retail therapy, staff discounts via the Ark Rewards scheme.
