About Waterside Academy

Waterside Academy is a 1-form entry primary school located in Welwyn Garden City. We have classes from Nursery to Year 6 and are committed to providing an exceptional education for all our pupils. The Role

We are seeking an exceptional SENDCo to join our dedicated team and contribute to the strategic development of SEND provision across the school. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and making a real difference to the lives of children. We will be happy to consider candidates looking for a full or part time position (minimum 3 days).

As our SENDCo, you will:

  • Lead the identification and assessment of pupils with SEND, ensuring barriers to learning are addressed swiftly
  • Oversee the implementation of the graduated approach and monitor the quality of SEND provision
  • Work closely and build strong relationships with parents, carers and their children
  • Liaise with external agencies, and the local authority to ensure a joined-up approach
  • Contribute to the development of whole-school policies and practises that promote inclusion
  • Support teachers in delivering high-quality, personalised learning for pupils with SEND
  • This role will include some teaching and leading a subject

Requirements

We are looking for an exceptional candidate who meets the following criteria:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • The National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (or willingness to achieve it promptly)
  • Proven experience of teaching across the primary age range, including supporting children with SEND
  • A clear understanding of the EHCP process and experience of working with external agencies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and inspire
  • A strong commitment to inclusive education and high expectations for all pupils
