What skills and experience we're looking for

Myatt Garden is looking for a passionate and dynamic SENCO to join our dynamic team. We strongly believe in providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for all of our pupils including with special educational needs and disabilities. As a member of the senior leadership team, the SENCO will play a vital role in ensuring this.

The SENCO should have the following skills and experience:

Successful teaching experience across the primary age range

Working with children from a variety of social backgrounds

Experience of working at a whole school level

Involvement in self-evaluation and development planning

Experience of conducting training/ leading INSET

Experience of line-managing staff

Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and its implications

Understanding of current initiatives that relate to our SEND provision

Understanding of what makes ‘quality first’ teaching, and of effective intervention strategies

Equality of opportunity issues and how they can be addressed in schools

Safeguarding issues and procedures

Myatt Garden is a vibrant and creative two-form entry primary school in Brockley. There are 361 children on roll, including our nursery.
