What skills and experience we're looking for
- As a Special Needs Coordinator (SENCO) at Longsight Community Primary, you will lead and manage Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across our inclusive, one-form entry school. You will be responsible for the strategic development and day-to-day operation of our SEND provision, working closely with children, staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure every pupil gets the support they need to thrive.
- You’ll be a qualified teacher, experienced in primary education, and passionate about inclusion.
- You will hold, or be willing to work towards, the National Award for SEN Coordination.
- You have led areas of school improvement and understand how to use data to evaluate the impact of interventions.
- You will have a strong working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and the ability to lead others in providing high-quality inclusive teaching.
- You’ll be an excellent communicator who works well with children, families, and staff, and can effectively coordinate with external services.
- You’ll be a confident, proactive team player who shares the values of the Big Life group and can contribute to a culture of equality, compassion, and ambition.
- You need an enhanced level DBS check for this role.

Longsight Community Primary opened as a single form entry free school in September 2013. The school moved into a new permanent build in September 2014. Our Trust, Big Life Schools consists of two schools across Manchester.
We are in Longsight, with strong roots within the community, developed from our connection with The Big Life Group, who deliver services including children’s centres and a private nursery.
