Special Support Assistant (SSA) job summary

Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for a dedicated individual to provide tailored support to our pupils. You will be committed to making a positive difference to young people’s lives and in supporting and developing their learning. Your intervention will help enable an outstanding learning environment for our young people, providing the support they need to succeed.
The successful candidate will be a committed team player with excellent organisational and technical skills. You will have the ability to effectively support learning and teaching, and to develop relationships across our school and the Star community.
You will have:
- NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant or equivalent.
- Working with children in a school setting.
- Experience of working with children with SEND.
- The ability to maintain positive relationships with pupils and other adults.
- The ability to work with pupils on a one to one, small groups and whole class.

The Olive School, Bolton is a 420 place Muslim faith based primary school which welcomes children from all faiths and none. The school opened in September 2016, admitting 60 children into Reception and 60 children into Year 1. It will welcome another 60 children into Reception each September and will reach its full size in 2021. Like all Star schools, it has “Leadership” as a specialism.
The Olive School, Bolton is a happy, friendly place where every child feels welcomed and valued. The curriculum fosters thought, curiosity and a desire for learning, creating a solid foundation for future learning and a rounded educational experience that addresses each child’s academic, personal and social development.
