What skills and experience we're looking for
The Marvell College requires a specialist learning support assistant with responsibility for Physical Needs (Physical Disability specialist) to work under the direct instruction of senior pastoral leaders to support children to ensure they learn and achieve well. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a strong track record of supporting learners with SEND, which has led to a significant improvement in the quality of provision and outcomes for pupils. Successful applicants must be willing to complete a specified qualification in the area of need – this will be directed by the Deputy Headteacher and Assistant Headteacher (SENCO).
Applicants must be able to:
- Articulate a compelling vision for their lead practitioner role within the college
- Communicate a clear understanding of the personal values and characteristics in which their understanding of SEND is rooted
- Describe a detailed analysis of the barriers to learning students with SEND face, with particular reference to the area of need they would specialize in
- Demonstrate an awareness of research/evidence-based approaches to supporting learners with SEND.
